Resource for information on Australian Wend immigrants - "Wendish Heritage Society of Australia" www.wendishheritage.org.au/This was the single greatest source for me and my family in beginning our research on our family (2 arrivals, 1848 and 1860 Adelaide, SA) and remains a valuable and helpful community link.

Hello! My ancestors came from Werben and arrived in South Australia in 1854. I am currently writing a fiction book so any anecdotes/cultural traits would be fantastic thankyou.

Welcome everyone to the Australian Wendish thread. Post any facts, questions or requests concerning them here. My mother's maiden name was Paech and her grandfather came to Adelaide and the Barrossa valley in about 1850. She thought that he was "Wendish" although did knot use this ethnicity, rather "Lutheran, German speaking, from the marshlands between the Elbe river and Poland. I met a Dr Gersch who told me that my background was(partly) Wendish. Jack Wall in Canada now but from Sorrento Vic. (born in Adelaide)
